Monique Voorn (left), social worker with the cancer program at Royal Victoria Hospital, and Allison Roberts, from Pink Strokes, go through the more than 100 toys the group donated to the hospital.

Pink Strokes recently donated around 100 toys to Royal Victoria Hospital.

The toys will be given to parents or grandparents receiving treatment for cancer at RVH, so they in turn can put them under the tree for the children in their lives. Pink Strokes is a dragonboat team and support group for young women with cancer.

The toy drive was the brainchild of Allison Roberts, who herself was diagnosed with cancer at Christmas and found little time to buy presents for her three-year-old son. This program alleviates that stress and allows patients to focus on healing.
